Nic Finch from Chameleonic came in and gave a couple of guest lectures on self branding and media.

I showed him my website and explained the idea of giving a business card that was black, with gold scripted font that had my name written on it and on the reverse side would just be the website address.

He discussed about printing techniques and explained I may come across some problems. I was explaining to Nic that Iv never built a website before and we discussed some options for the branding or the website logo.  tonysignature

Having my own signature as my logo keeps the branding personal, I am building a website to promote my creative works but more to promote my voluntary and paid work experience within the creative arts industries.

After agreeing with the handwritten signature he  helped me with getting it to be a suitable image for the web… Massive Thanks Nic!! 🙂

Toybox Studios is owned by Ali Chant, an Engineer and Producer based in Bristol. I particularly like this website’s simple and professional finish. The information of his works and discography is straight forward, precise and clear. Each page is linked to the navigation bar across the top of the page and the white background theme is through out.  Ali Chant is a renowned artist having worked with many successful musicians, his show reel is something nice and I do like how Ali Chant has a separate website for himself and the studio business, (

This is like my destiny sessions website and platform idea which is still actually live… It consists of an email address/ domain name, youtube and Facebook pages. I guess one way to expand on that is to have twitter or instagram and keep on blogging about our projects!! (upcoming DS project, Falling Under)

Amy Wadge is a grammy nominated songwriter living in wales. Her website is also very clear, simple and interesting. ……. tbc

Danielle Lewis has successfully gained a place on this years BBC Horizons project. Her sweet acoustic songs and contemporary singing came to my attention through Facebook. I decided to check her out and easily found her artist website. I noticed that the template she uses is the same template I have chosen to use on Her website is easy to navigate and it is clear to see that she is a regular gigging musician. Personally i am not at that stage yet, i would like to curate a sound, produce an ep and then hit the road or scene with a product. Danielle’s website home page scrolls down through only some of her pages consecutively, I can see this is a personal alteration to the we site template that i have taken an interest in.

This is my website still under development, Slightly different from the earlier posts in the way i have subtracted some of my pages at the top of the navigation bar. Im really on a mission to make my website as simple and effective as possible. I am waiting to have a photo shoot for the website and also design some graphics as my name logo. I look forward to the next session with Nic Finch, he has already helped me with some vector imaging which was really nice. (DS) –

I can probably keep the recording studio projects on this platform but still included it in the main produced website. The pseudonym Destiny Sessions will show the produced works with other singers and songwriters in the studio, 99% of the time are in partnership with Alex Heywood (engineer at DS).

The best way to make myself and creative services presentable and accessible to people is to develop a website/ portfolio. I have never built a website before, I am my own worst critic and the idea of making yourself a brand is slightly un-easing. This task has proven to be challenging but also fun.

I chose to develop my first ideas and i presented this site to my tutors…

After some tutor feedback and a new website recommendation I began to work on for a more professional finish. I think this above idea still portrays a slight juvenile aesthetic. I decided to invest in myself and bought the domain name and this is when was created.

After the inspiring lectures with Stefhan Caddick &  Nic Finch on branding and creating logos i began to experiment with some ideas,

….. I decided i wanted to keep the name and branding with a personal feel so i experimented with simply writing my name…

I thought of having a black business card with my name on one side and my website on the other  side…

”Black card with gold thin border, swirls at the corners and the above signature with the small arrow”

After a little experimentation it was suggested to me that i chose a more contemporary colour, one that was bright, eye-catching and appealing to younger people…

I have spoken to two students on the photography and documentary film course and they have agreed to take some quality shots for the website! I have had a play around with some ideas, This is the website on sunday 21st feburary, 18:19pm. Still under construction…

Current references I had before the designing of my website was I do like how his website is set out. Its minimalist and professional looking with a navigation bar across the top and separate pages as the navbar links.

I wanted to get stuck in and start building my new website so I decided to go with a more contemporary template on with everything linked to the navigation bar headings and links. Also existing in the constant scroll flowing down my website, the main background is slightly  burgundy, each subheading has a black background or uploaded background picture… i can also add media anywhere i choose.

Over the christmas break 2015/2016 I have been watching over the previous performance videos within the class I have been able to identify some certain aspects of that need attention, If I’m totally honest it all starts within myself. Throughout the course i have experimented with my music and written songs that come from the heart, its quite exposing to perform songs you write in your bedroom that I feel don’t have a market audience.

  • My performances are not engaging, No audience eye contact – because of being anxious about performing new material in the class my body language and voice projection is almost inverted, i sound almost choked up in myself!!
  • I didn’t practise enough, this is contributing to the lack of confidence – I guess there are no excuses really but dissertation and other module hand in’s have taken up a lot of time recently.
  • Anticipating the end result too much, trying to hard for perfection – Every time I perform a song it is slightly different… Instead of actually performing my songs with an engaged core tone and rehearsed melody line I would deviate or mess up and then this would send my performances into a downward spiral…

So what can I do to change this..?

  1. MORE GIGS!! – unless I throw myself into the deep end with the above points in mind I will not be able to fix the issues & I think the opportunity to get out and perform my music will quickly pass me by, which is something i don’t want
  2. PRACTISE PRACTISE PRACTISE!! – I should really finish my songs and work on the arrangements and include rehearsals with a band! <– In response my in-class performances feedback.
  3. Experiment with some distorted guitars for that rock live sound!!

I took up any opportunity to perform…

Also over christmas holidays a few different opportunities to perform had come my way so I said yes to every one of them. I have now established that Performing under different pseudonym’s can help authenticate my material as a practitioner.

Aj-Fitz is the singer songwriter/ Rap artist. – Aphitz is my electronic/ IDM Glitch & Breaks pseudonym and, – Mr. Fitz is a songbook project under the Aj-Fitz pseudonym.

Clarence Bar Rocks was an event organised by Simon Gore, a fellow student on our course. I performed the material from the performance videos in the leading weeks and used this gig to trial out how a plugged in sound may work. I used a drum machine and played with Alex on bass. The gig went well in a sense that the crowd reaction was good and i had great feedback about my singing which helped my confidence. The idea of working with a drum machine was a needs must however I quickly learned that between tracks there was awkward moments of fumbling around with kit. As a conclusion I think It is now time to bring the full band to my music!!

At the end of this gig they asked for one more so I used hip-hop instrumentals and done some rap verses to finish. I think it went well, I made a couple of friends who are interested in playing for me should I need it and the crowd reaction was good.

This gig above was a student music night held in Gwd I Hu in Cardiff. I wasn’t supposed to be performing this night but there was open mic slot available. Under the influence of dutch courage i got up and performed some of my rap verses. I do like to perform my rap verses, i do normally get a good response but my songwriting delivery is what I’m really trying to focus on at the moment. Its easy for me to get up and deliver rhymes using adrenaline as an aid but singing holds a level of discipline.

The two events above are also rap hip-hop events both held in Cardiff. As previously mentioned rapping is something I like to do for entertainment proposes rather than a forwarding vocation.

Warming up the stage for Akala is the biggest gig I have yet to perform in regards to my Mc /Rap pseudonym. At the moment I am not promoting myself as an artist because of the early stages of development in the delivery of each pseudonym.

I have appreciated the gig opportunities and learned a lot. I think in terms of moving forwards I am now going to focus on the live sound and rehearse with the band.
